A muscle on the front of the shin that dorsiflexes and inverts the ankle.

The tibialis anterior is a muscle located on the front of the shin. It originates from the lateral condyle and upper two-thirds of the tibia and inserts into the medial cuneiform and first metatarsal. It dorsiflexes the ankle (lifts the foot) and inverts the foot (turns it inward). It is important for walking and running, especially during the swing phase.
