Gluteus Medius muscle

Detailed Information

The gluteus medius is a muscle located on the lateral side of the hip. It originates from the ilium and inserts into the greater trochanter of the femur. It abducts the hip (moves the leg away from the body) and stabilizes the pelvis during walking and running. Weak gluteus medius can lead to hip and knee problems.
