Moderate nutritional value
Baltic smoked sprats canned in oil, values for the drained fish with bones.
Small Baltic fish that are smoked and packed in oil, a classic of Latvian, Estonian and Russian tables on rye bread or toast. A 50 g portion gives about 185 kcal, 9 g of protein and 16 g of fat, with about 145 mg of calcium from the soft bones, about 300 mg of sodium and a lot of vitamin B12 and vitamin E. Most of the fat comes from the vegetable packing oil, so sprats are far fattier than fresh fish.
