Dill — photo 1

Dill is a feathery leaf herb used heavily in Russian, Ukrainian, Scandinavian and Eastern European cooking, chopped over potatoes, salads, soups and fish, and used in brined pickles. A 10 g portion, about a cup of loose sprigs, has about 4 kcal and small amounts of vitamin A, vitamin C and iron. Dill loses its aroma quickly when heated, so it is usually added at the end of cooking or just before serving.
