Moderate nutritional value
Glutinous (sticky) white rice, values for soaked and steamed rice.
Sticky (glutinous) rice is a white rice whose starch is almost all amylopectin, so it turns chewy and clumps when cooked. It is soaked and steamed, eaten daily in Laos and northern and northeastern Thailand and used in Chinese, Japanese and Korean dishes and sweets. A 150 g portion gives about 295 kcal and 5.4 g of protein, mostly starch, and is high in manganese and selenium. Dry sticky rice nearly doubles in weight when steamed. Despite the name, it contains no gluten.
