Limited nutritional benefit
Soy sauce brewed from soybeans and wheat (shoyu), regular sodium.
Soy sauce is a fermented seasoning brewed from soybeans, wheat, salt and water, used in cooking and at the table across East Asia. A 15 ml tablespoon has only about 9 kcal and 1 g of protein but about 890 mg of sodium, more than a third of the recommended daily maximum, and a 5 ml teaspoon has about 300 mg. It contains wheat as well as soy; tamari is a similar sauce often made without wheat.
