Kiwi — photo 1

Green kiwifruit is usually halved and scooped out with a spoon or peeled and sliced into fruit salads and desserts. One kiwi of about 75 g has about 45 kcal, 2.3 g of fiber, about 70 mg of vitamin C, roughly three quarters of the daily value, and a quarter of the daily value of vitamin K. Raw kiwi contains actinidin, an enzyme that breaks down protein, so it stops gelatin from setting and turns milk and cream desserts bitter if mixed in long before serving.
