The longus colli is a deep muscle located on the anterior aspect of the cervical spine. It originates from the anterior tubercles of the cervical vertebrae and inserts into the anterior arch of the atlas and the bodies of the cervical vertebrae. It flexes the neck and stabilizes the cervical spine. It is important for maintaining proper neck posture.
