Exceptional nutritional value
Split peas boiled without salt, values for the cooked peas.
Split peas are dried, hulled and halved peas, green or yellow, that cook down without soaking into pea soup, dal and purees. A 150 g cooked portion gives about 175 kcal, 12.5 g of protein and 12.5 g of fiber, and is a good source of copper, manganese, thiamin and folate, with some zinc and magnesium. Dry split peas swell to about 3 times their weight when cooked, so 150 g cooked is about 50 g dry.
