Japanese noodle soup with broth and toppings.
Ramen is a Japanese soup of wheat noodles in a pork, chicken, miso or soy-based broth, topped with sliced chashu pork, a soft-boiled egg, nori and green onion. It supplies carbohydrate from the noodles and some protein; fat varies widely with the broth, and a full bowl is usually very high in sodium. A 450 g bowl is about 340 kcal; leaving most of the broth cuts the sodium.
