Soft goat cheese, or chevre, is a fresh, tangy, spreadable cheese made from goat's milk, spread on bread, crumbled over salads and beets, or baked. A 30 g serving has about 80 kcal, 5.5 g of protein and 6.5 g of fat, 4.5 g of it saturated, with about 140 mg of sodium and about 85 µg of vitamin A. It is low in calcium, about 40 mg per serving; semi-soft and hard aged goat cheeses are firmer and have more fat and far more calcium.
