The peroneus brevis is a muscle located on the lateral side of the leg, deep to the peroneus longus. It originates from the lower two-thirds of the fibula and inserts into the base of the fifth metatarsal. It everts the foot and assists in plantarflexion. It works with the peroneus longus to stabilize the ankle.
