Green Onion — photo 1

Green onions, also called scallions or spring onions, are young onions eaten whole, bulb and green tops, sliced raw into salads and soups or used as a garnish. A 15 g stalk has about 5 kcal and about 31 µg of vitamin K, roughly a quarter of the daily value; other nutrients are small at this amount. The green tops are milder than the white bulb and are usually added at the end of cooking.
