The teres minor is one of the four rotator cuff muscles. It originates from the lateral border of the scapula and inserts into the greater tubercle of the humerus. Its main functions are external rotation of the shoulder and stabilization of the shoulder joint. It works with the infraspinatus to prevent shoulder injuries and maintain joint stability.
