The subclavius is a small, triangular muscle located beneath the clavicle. It originates from the first rib and inserts into the inferior surface of the clavicle. Its primary function is to stabilize the sternoclavicular joint and assist in depressing the clavicle. It plays a minor role in shoulder movements but is important for overall shoulder stability.
