The infraspinatus is one of the four rotator cuff muscles. It originates from the infraspinous fossa of the scapula and inserts into the greater tubercle of the humerus. Its primary function is external rotation of the shoulder, and it also helps stabilize the shoulder joint. Strong infraspinatus muscles are important for shoulder health and preventing injuries.
